Own the Morning with 3 Simple Steps

a bowl of oats, a journal and a cup of coffee

Even if you’re a night owl and prefer to sleep in more than someone else, you can still own the morning; it will be as simple for you as it will be for them.

If you’re ready to set out on the journey towards your best morning yet, this is how you can own it.

Own the Morning with 3 Simple Steps

Own The Morning With 3 Simple Steps

  1. Set your intentions for the day.
You wake up, and no matter what time it is or what sort of rush you think you might be in, calmly (even subtly) set your intentions for the day. If time permits, consider doing this via a journal. You can set the intention with morning pages, jotting down goals, or even with a simple a one-liner. If you don’t have time to journal in any capacity, then speak your intentions for the day out loud to yourself. Write, or say, the exact outcome you want to see come to fruition at day’s end. Step one can take anywhere from 10 seconds to 10 minutes (and more, if you want to invest in heavy journaling time). For the sake of simplicity, let’s assume this step takes 10 seconds.
  2. Engage your (food and/or beverage) assistant.
The reality is that there isn’t an actual food and/or beverage assistant at your side to help you own the morning. If there is, you’re already owning the morning! What this assistant consists of is a simple breakfast to start the day, one that is so easy, it almost makes itself. Try this, the night before, prep some overnight oats. Just before you take it out of the fridge to enjoy in the morning, start brewing your coffee. Meanwhile, grab the overnight oats, stir them, and savor that first bite. Once the coffee is done, grab your favorite coffee cup and carton of Elmhurst Cashew Milk. Fill your coffee cup with coffee and as much of the Barista Approved Cashew Milk as desired. Breakfast has been served in as little as 5 minutes.
  3. Eat a frog.
And last, but certainly not least, the third step to take for owning your morning is to eat a frog. No, not literally. Mark Twain once said, “Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.” In other words, by starting the morning with your most difficult task, everything else should feel easier. How motivating and energizing to have that big rock out of the way immediately. The amount of time this takes is completely dependent upon how big your own, personal frog is. Regardless, once it’s done, you have officially owned the morning.
